Arm lift surgery explained
Arm lift surgery is a cosmetic procedure carried out to remove excess skin and tissue from the under arms, resulting in a tighter and more firm appearance.
Excess skin that is soft and loose around the arms are usually caused by pregnancy, significant weight loss or aging. In addition to physical discomforts, excess skin can also have an emotional impact on some people, making them feel dissatisfied and less confident with their appearance.
It’s normal for skin to stretch and lose shape as you put on weight. For many people, the pleasures of losing weight and getting back into better physical condition is overshadowed by the excess skin left behind. As skin stretched it will lose elasticity, and the ability to regain its old form will become more difficult.
If you’re feeling concerned about excess skin around your arms then arm lift surgery might the procedure for you.

What’s involved in arm lift surgery?
Arm lift surgery is carried out under general anaesthetic and takes between two and three hours to complete. As the procedure is performed under general anaesthetic you will need to stay in hospital for a day or two after the surgery.
The surgery usually involves making an incision around the top and/or under the arms. The loose skin and muscles are tightened and excesses removed before stitching the remaining skin into position.
The procedure may also be combined with liposuction to remove excess fat for additional aesthetic enhancement.
After arm lift surgery and recovery
After the surgery you will be required to take some time off work. Your surgeon will discuss this and give advice on when you can expect to get back to normal activity.
The dressing applied after the procedure should not be removed until you return to the clinic for a check-up. The time frame for this will be confirmed before the procedure, but typically you would expect bandages and stitches to be removed after two weeks.
There will be some bruising and swelling for the first few weeks after surgery. You may also experience some discomfort and tightness around the treated areas.
Any follow up appointments that have been made should be attended to check the progress of your recovery.

About Arm Lift Surgery
Arm lift surgery is cosmetic procedure carried out to remove excess skin and tissue from under the arm.
Loose, sagging skin is usually a result of significant weight loss, pregnancy or a part of the aging process. As you age, or your body goes through significant changes like weight fluctuations, your skin tends to stretch and lose shape and becomes less elastic. This means that after a certain point your body is no longer able restore its form as it did before.
Arm lift surgery is an effective way to remove unwanted excess skin that won’t go away through simple exercise and dieting. The results of this procedure will give you a more firm and tight look and feel.
Arm lift surgery can be combined with other complimentary treatments like liposuction to achieve further enhancements. Your surgeon will be in the best position to recommend the most appropriate treatment plan for the results you’re looking to achieve.
