Travelling to Croatia for healthcare services has become increasingly popular in recent years. The Croatian medical tourism industry is booming with high demand for a number of cosmetic and dental procedures.

Croatia healthcare system
Croatia has a universal healthcare system. Its citizens are covered by a basic health insurance plan which is given to them by law. Optional health insurance policies may be taken out if desired.
There are hundreds of healthcare institutions in Croatia, including 79 hospitals and clinics with 25,285 beds, caring for more than 760,000 patients per year. Ownership of hospitals is shared between the state and the Counties of Croatia. There are 5,792 private practice offices, and a total of 46,020 health workers in the country, including 10,363 medical doctors.
Croatia spends close to 7% of its GDP on public healthcare.
Travelling to Croatia for treatment

Be sure to take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance before you travel. Although this type of insurance won’t help with the cost of your medical travel or any complications that may occur, it can be extremely useful when, and if, you’re confronted with and unexpected situation while out there.
